The U.S. News & World Report 2024 Best High Schools Rankings is a comprehensive evaluation encompassing various factors including student performance in math, reading, and science state assessments, performance in a range of college-level exams, and the school's graduation rate. The data utilized for these rankings is sourced from references such as the Common Core of Data, statewide math, reading, and science assessments, the College Board, and the International Baccalaureate.

This assessment process involves six distinct ranking indicators, each assigned different weights to calculate an overall score for each school. These indicators include College Readiness, College Curriculum Breadth, State Assessment Proficiency, State Assessment Performance, Underserved Student Performance, and Graduation Rate.

Bethel High School notably excelled in the indicators of College Readiness and College Curriculum Breadth, securing rankings of 87th and 117th respectively. U.S. News highlighted the school's strong offering of Advanced Placement courses, which is underscored by the fact that 51% of its 12th grade students take at least one AP Exam and a significant number achieve a passing score of 3 or higher, thereby enhancing their preparedness for higher education.
