Below are descriptions of each inductee's accomplishments and contributions to the Bethel Athletic Department Legacy.
Kim Phillip Adams
Kim Phillip Adams is one of the most decorated multi-sport athletes in Bethel History. While at the Hive, Kim was a three-year starter for volleyball, earning First Team Cross County Conference, First Team District 9, and reaching the highest level with All-State Honors! She was named CCC Player of the Year and District 9 Player of the Year, was selected as MVP of the Sectional Tournament, earned First Team Dayton Daily News AP Area All-Star, and was voted Best Offensive Player. Kim was a two-time MVP of the Tipp City Invitational, helped lead Bethel to CCC Championships, and a District Runner-Up finish. She also represented Bethel in both the District All-Star Game and the All-State All-Star Game, played at St. John Arena.
On the basketball court, Kim was a three-year varsity starter, earning First Team CCC and First Team District Honors, along with Second Team AP Division IV Southwestern District recognition. She was named to the Division IV All-Area All-Star Team and the Dayton Daily News First Team All-Star roster. Statistically, Kim was one of the top scorers in all of Miami County, finishing in the Top 10 as a sophomore, second as a junior, and leading the county in scoring as a senior. She also played in the District 9 All-Star Game.
Kim’s excellence also extended to softball, where she was a four-year varsity starter, earning First Team CCC, First Team District, and District All-Star honors, leading the conference in RBIs during her senior season, which helped Bethel capture another CCC Championship. Beyond competition, Kim’s impact on girls' athletics was recognized through her invitation to the first annual Rae Burick Women in Sports Awards Banquet.
Darrell McDaniel
Darrell McDaniel is one of the most versatile athletes Bethel has ever produced, earning an outstanding 11 varsity letters across basketball, track, and cross country.
In basketball, Darrell led the varsity team in free throw percentage during the 1968–1969 and 1969–1970 seasons, earned the Sportsmanship Award in 1969–1970, and became only the second sophomore ever promoted to the varsity team, earning a rare three-year varsity award from 1969–1971. He was named Outstanding Team Member during the 1970–1971 season, selected to the Bradford Tournament All-Star Team in 1970, and served as the starting guard on Bethel’s 1969 District Championship team.
On the track, Darrell made varsity as a freshman, competing from 1968–1971, and lettering all four years in the two-mile event. In cross country, he once again lettered from 1968–1971, with his top finish coming in 1971, when he placed third at the District meet, earning qualification to the State Meet, a rare achievement at the time.
After high school, Darrell continued to display the discipline and commitment learned at Bethel by playing basketball for FMFLANT Marine Corps and serving in the United States Marine Corps, from which he was honorably discharged in 1975.
Milton "Milt" Plunkett
Milton “Milt” Plunkett, a member of the Class of 1960, whose basketball career exemplifies efficiency, toughness, and consistency. A varsity starter during his junior and senior seasons, Milt helped guide Bethel to a 15–5 record his senior year, averaging approximately 15 points per game, making him the second-leading scorer on the team. As a left-handed primary ball handler, he drew frequent fouls and converted at an impressive 76–77% from the free throw line.
One performance still stands out decades later, a game against Covington in which Milt made 17 of 21 free throws, a total that still ranks among the best single-game free throw performances in school history. He was also known for his accurate two-handed chest shot, highlighted by a standout shooting performance against Piqua Catholic. In addition to basketball, Milt was a four-year baseball letter winner, and off the court was a National Honor Society member and class treasurer, reflecting excellence in academics and leadership.
