Middle and high schools tend to be times that are heavily influenced by peer pressure, whether direct or an attempt to fit in. Additionally, the puberty years cause many students to feel awkward and uncomfortable, which amplifies the desire to fit in. Body image issues, the development of sexual attractions, and leaving childhood to enter early adulthood leave adolescents searching for their own place in the world. Some students try addictive substances out of pure curiosity and others as a coping mechanism for trauma or underlying mental health issues.  In recognition of National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week, we wanted to share an informative article from TeenDrugRehabs.com.  No one likes to think of their child participating in these activities, however, studies have shown that the more educated families are and the more parents talk to their kids about it, the less likely they are to use/abuse drugs.
