Bethel High School Ranked Top in Miami County!

Bethel High School has recently been ranked the top school in Miami County by U.S. News & World Report!

Bethel High School was ranked 109th out of the 874 public schools in Ohio, making it the highest ranking of any Miami County School. Bethel High School was also ranked 8th in Dayton Metro Area High Schools. Bethel ranked particularly high on the College Readiness Index and the College Curriculum Breadth Index, with rankings of 59th and 69th respectively.

"I believe that Bethel High School has earned this distinction due to three things: the tireless efforts of the teachers and support staff, the responsible students that work diligently everyday, and the supportive parents in the community. On a daily basis I get to see firsthand interactions between the staff and students. The focus on learning and preparing for life after high school is evident in every classroom," says Bethel High School Principal Barrett Swope.

U.S. News & World Report 2022 high school rankings take into account the students' scores on math, reading, and science state assessments, scores in an array of college-level exams, and the school’s rate of graduation. U.S. News does not collect any of this information directly from the schools ranked, instead pulling information from the Common Core of Data, Statewide math, reading, and science assessments, the College Board, and the International Baccalaureate. This information is then broken into six ranking indicators that are used with varying weight to determine a school’s overall score. The six indicators are College Readiness, College Curriculum Breadth, Statement Assessment Proficiency, State Assessment Performance, Underserved Student Performance, and Graduation Rate.

Superintendent of Bethel Local Schools Justin M. Firks says, “Congratulations to Bethel High School for the recent US News and World Report ranking. Bethel Local Schools would also like to thank the parents and the community for their support in the education of our youth and in helping make our school district a great place to learn!”
